NEW! Sundrop Flower Granny Square Bag - Crochet Pattern - PDF Download

Hook up a beautiful bag covered in a meadow of crochet flowers with this new crochet bag pattern, designed by Sharon Oldfield at Cotton Pod. Sharon took her inspiration from mid century modern textile and wallpaper designs of the 1950's and 1960's. 

The granny square used in the bag is named after the Sundrop flower, a four petaled flower species belonging to the Evening Primrose family. It is native to North America, liking open habitats, including dry woodland, rocky outcrops and moist savannas. (The Disney Movie Tangled features a Sundrop flower but theirs looks more like a Lily).

This PDF pattern* is a 12 page document written using UK crochet terminology. It includes yarn details (with an alternative suggestion) a stitch diagram, clear instructions and photos to guide you through the making process. Difficulty is Easy to Intermediate.

To complete this project you may also need:

• Aran weight Cotton E.g. Scheepjes Cahlista (or Stonewashed XL)
  • I used the following shades of Cahlista:
    • Colour A: Primrose (522) x 50g
    • Colour B: Sweet Orange (411) x 50g
    • Colour C: Cyan (397) x 50g
    • Colour D: Freesia (519) x 50g
    • Colour E: Apple Granny (513) x 50g
    • Colour F: Snow white (106) x 150- 200g depending on your tension
      

• 5mm crochet hook
• small scissors
• stitch marker
• darning needle

Alternatively you could make the bag using Scheepjes Stone Washed XL. Here's the shades I used:

• 50g Colour A: Yellow Jasper (849)
  
• 50g Colour B: Carnelian (863)
• 50g Colour C: Canada Jade (846)
• 50g Colour D: Coral (856)
