The Meadow Mystery CAL Clue #1
Posted by Sharon Oldfield on
Just taking a short break from sock making to start the DROPS Mystery CAL - The Meadow. (If you are unfamiliar with the abbreviation CAL it simply means crochet-a-long and usually involves lots of crocheters making the same item all at the same time). I am really excited about this CAL and would like to share as much information with you as I can, in case you love the idea of joining in too!
So here's the CAL details:
This CAL has been designed by Garnstudio DROPS DESIGN and you can sign up for the clues on their website or follow them on Facebook (where you can also join a their closed group called DROPS WORKSHOP).
The DROPS CAL blanket is called The Meadow and is called a 'Mystery' CAL because the final look of the blanket is a complete surprise. Each week one part of the pattern is revealed and is called a Clue.
DROPS have recommended three possible colour schemes for the CAL, using DROPS Loves You#7 Yarn, but this 100% cotton yarn range has so many lovely colours to choose from if you want to create you own colour scheme. (A 3mm hook is recommended).
Here's my CAL story so far - Clue#1 - The Anemone:
This week I am playing catch up with the CAL. I have chosen the original colour scheme but have substituted the pink for yellow, as yellow is my littlest's favourite colour. (She has been asking for a yellow blanket for ages, every since I presented her with a pink, blue, white and red ripple that had taken me forever to make on a 3.5mm hook! In her words "I like it, but could you add some yellow now?")
To complete Clue #1 - The Anemone, I followed the photo tutorial from DROPS. The squares should measure 9.5 cm but my squares are coming under that at just under 9cm. The instructions and photos are really clear and easy to follow.
If you prefer, the video from Garnstudio DROPS Design is extremely useful too.
I hope you are as excited as me about the CAL and that my post has inspired you to come along on the Mystery CAL Adventure too!
Happy Hooking x
